July 22: FBI lab to open in O.C. to nab cyber criminals - Orange County law-enforcement agencies will deploy a new, $5 million FBI digital forensics lab in the central part of the county when it opens in February. Welcome to the Orange County RCFL Website!

On April 28, 2008, the Los Angeles Field Office was selected by the FBI Director Robert Mueller III to receive a Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory (RCFL). Law enforcement agencies throughout our region are working to make this a reality, and this website is part of that effort.

The Orange County RCFL (OCRCFL) is seeking interested law enforcement agencies that wish to join us in this important endeavor. To learn more about becoming a Participating Agency, contact SSA Jason Weiss at 310.996.3505 or jweiss@rcfl.gov for more information.

What is an RCFL?

An RCFL is a one-stop, full service forensics laboratory and training center devoted entirely to the examination of digital evidence in support of criminal investigations. The OCRCFL supports investigations into such crimes as, but not limited to—

Homicide
Child Pornography
Violent Crimes
Terrorism
The Theft or Destruction of Intellectual Property
Internet crime
Fraud.
